So, I’ve been holding back kicking this off until I felt I could sustain some momentum. After two weeks, I feel I can do that…just.
So why this blog?
About 6 weeks ago, I realized that there would be no way to relate all the stories (read: minutiae) of our new child’s life to our disparate family members (Quebec, Vancouver, Antigua, Trinidad) or to friends who cared to hear our new daily challenges in a one-on-one email or phone call fashion. I was also thinking of capturing some moments of the first weeks in some sort of journal and decided that solving both problems was the right way to go about it, hence this blog. I can’t decide if my audience is the external readers, the internal writer or Ella herself, so I may alternate between all three — author’s prerogative.Â
Of course, the other upside is I don’t have to pepper anyone’s inbox who isn’t interested. If you want to keep up, visit the website weekly, and I assure you there will be some new tidbits. For the savvy, there is of course an RSS feed (multiple in fact) — look to the left. For the unsavvy, email me and I can walk you through it. Be warned, I may make you contribute to the eventual ‘howto’ page once demand (!) outstrips my help supply. Or ask the other computer geek you might know. I can think of one!
If all you want are the photos, then our flickr site is still the best port of call! (Although you can catch a glimpse of the last 6 photos to the right.) The real first post to follow soon, probably before I announce this website to everyone. Here’s a sneak peek at the topic:
